Yalta Conference

Germany split.
The country was divided into four zones, where each superpower controlled a zone. In 1946, reparation agreements broke down between the Soviet and Western zones. Result of the West was to combine French, British, and American zones in 1947. -
Truman Doctrine
The Truman Doctrine was an American policy that said the purpose was to counter Soviet expansion during the Cold War. It was announced to Congress by President Harry S. Truman on March 12, 1947, and then later developed on July 12, 1948, when he pledged to keep threats in Greece and Turkey. -

American pact made to help Western Europe. USA gives Europe money to help spread the stopping of communism. Democracy and capitalism are established long term in Europe. Dickey notes -

Warsaw Pact
This was a military alliance between communist countries. This was formally known as the Treaty of Friendship. The countries was between the soviet union and seven eastern bloc satellite states of central and eastern Europe in may 1955. Notes -
Berlin wall was built.
