Causes of the Cold War
The United States and the Soviet Union had opposing systems of government. The United States had a democratic system while the Soviet Union was a dictatorship.The opposing systems led to the dislike of each other. The differing economic system led to more dislike. The Soviet Union used communism while the United States used capitalism. The Arms Race
The Soviet Union had Hydrogen (H) bombs, which were thousands of times more powerful than Atomic Bombs. Cuban Missile Crisis
In 1959, the Cuban people overthrew their dictator, Batista and Fidel Castro came into control.
