    Truman Plan
    A US policy that sent a warning to the Soviet Union that the US would protect any country that was being invaded by a communist power. Especially put in place to protect Greece and Turkey from joining the Sphere of Influence by the Soviet Union. Was effective and helped prevent the communism domino effect.
  • Marshall Plan

    Marshall Plan
    A US policy intended to rebuild the economies in western Europe as a way to prevent Soviet Union influence. Lasted until 1952, and was effective in quickly growing European economies. This also led to trade relations and the forming of the North Atlantic alliance.

    Czechoslovakia is Taken
    Communists from the Soviet Union take over Czechoslovakia and create the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. This was the clear start of the Cold War. The Marshall Plan was introduced to prevent further spread of communism into France.

    A policy that took away black people's rights in South Africa by the white invaders. Developed after WWII, and was ended in 1990.

    The Soviet Union built a wall around Berlin to keep the citizens in while preventing resources from other countries from being shipped into the city. This was the first major crisis during the Cold War and the first attempt the Soviet Union made to conquer the city of Berlin. The wall lasted until May 12, 1949.

    The US responded to the Berlin Blockade by sending supplies into the city of Berlin by plane. Planes landed every three minutes to bring supplies. This lasted until September 9, 1949.

    The KGB group in the Soviet Union was created. It became the main source of security in the Soviet Union. Later became the military system. The main objective was to protect the Soviet Union from intelligence attacks. The group dissolved in 1991.

    An attempt made by the US, Soviet Union, France, China, and United Kingdom to unify Vietnam. Instead, the Accords divided Vietnam into the north and south.

    The Soviet Union created a barrior between the countries that they had influence on. The barrior separated Europe into two parts, keeping Soviet Union isolated from western Europe. Lasted until 1991.

    In retaliation to NATO, the Soviet Union created the Warsaw Pact. It was a treaty between communist countries.

    The war was between the communist north of Vietnam and the South of Vietnam and the US. The US joined in the war as a way to prevent communism from spreading into the south, which would help the plan of containment. The US backed out of the war in 1973, but the war didn't end until 1975 when Vietnam united.

    In the inlet off of the south coast of Cuba, the US invaded the country. It was an attempt to overthrow the communist premier, Fidel Castro. Fidel Castro took over all of the US oil fields and businesses in Cuba, so the US took them back.

    A set of documents to stop Israel and Arabic disputes in Egyptian areas. Eventually led to a bilateral agreement between Israel and Egypt. The Accords were signed by Egyptian President and Israeli Prime Minister.

    52 Americans were taken hostage for 444 days by Islamic terrorists who were a part of the Iranian Revolution. The Iranians wanted $7.98 billion from the US in return for the hostages. The agreement was agreed upon, and after paying the Iranians, the Americans were released on January 20, 1981.
