Berlin Blockade Starts
While Germany was controlled by communist Soviets on one half and Democratic Allied forces on the other, the Soviets blocked all railways, roads, and boat access to Allied Berlin.
|This was part of a plan to gain control over the entirety of Berlin|
In response, the Allies airlifted supplies into Berlin, eventually bringing in more through airlife than had been through rails in the past. The soviets gave up on the blockade, seeing that it hadn't worked. After this, Germany was split into two. -

Cuban Missile Crisis
The time which brought the world closest to a nuclear war. After the Bay of Pigs and other US attempts to overthrow Cuba, Soviet nuclear missiles were to be placed in Cuba to stop America from invading further. The US blockaded Cuba to stop the Soviets from sending offensive wepons to be sent to Cubaa and demanded the Soviets to destroy the missile bases and remove offensive weapons. After many, many negotiations, the nukes and weapons were removed, and a slight peace was found. -
