    Decline of Buffalo Part 1

    In 1500 there were 30 million to 100 million buffalo.And the native americans mainly counted on using the buffalo to eat and the natives use every last bit of the buffalo.But there were poachers who hunted buffalo to have their skins and horns .This put the natives in awe as they are able to find already rotted carcasses of dead buffalo that the poachers had left.

    The main tribes that counted on the buffalo were the sioux and the comanche.The main things the natives made was the shields,bows,dresses, and other amenities that they use.

    There was a treaty between the us and canada to make a railway that goes through native american land and in return the natives were allowed reserved land in the alberta province and thus they began to build. There was also a man who became president in 1840 and in 1845 he suggested that memphis also gets the transcontinental and his secretary of war jefferson davis.

    There was another man named edward fitzgerald beale he was one to graduate from the us naval academy he as a lieutenant sailed with another person name commodore robert stockton and they were aboard the congress to california.
    But the ship reached san diego just before the outbreak of the california uprising.

    The Bozeman Trail was made just after the civil war 1861-1865.For the settlers it was the fastest route for gold seekers to montana from missouri.Unfortunately it was right in the middle of Indiana Hunting Grounds.It was most famous for making the red cloud's war.

    .In July 1866 the Indians led by Red Cloud.Blocked off the Bozeman Trail almost every wagon train was robbed and attacked.Behind a ridge the Indians fifteen to 2 thousand Indian warriors laid and waited to attack Fetterman and his troops.There were many victims from the Indians Attack.The Fort Laramie Treaties were made by the U.S government and helped close the Bozeman Trail and became obsolete and the forts were abandoned.
  • Sand Creek Massacre Part 1

    The Events of the Sand Creek Massacre took place in 1864.The victims of the attack were the Cheyenne and the Arapahoe led by the Black Kettle.The Coloradans would not stop killing until more than two hundred Indians were dead this included men,women and children.Col.John Chivington was responsible for the sand creek massacre by sending seven hundred men.

    John Evans Governor of Colorado promised that his militia would protect the these indians and this obviously did not happen or this promise was not kept.
  • William J Fetterman

    Fetterman's role was a veteran of the civil war.And he fought in the battles of Murfreesboro and Jonesboro.And later got promoted for his role in both battles.Fetterman who was Encouraged by the failures of an Indian assault on a wagon train at Lodge Trail Ridge (1866).Then on December 6 Fetterman declared that he ride through the entire sioux nation with only 80 troopers to rescue the supply of wagons.The rescue ended up killing fetterman and his 80 men.
  • Crazy Horse Part 1

    Crazy Horse was a Indian warrior and his first battles were against the Crow Indians.He was also a big part of the sioux wars..Crazy Horse fought alongside with Oglala Chief Red Cloud and with non-indians along the Bozeman Trail.Later Crazy Horse led a small party of warriors that lured Fetterman into a defensible position into an ambush.Due to his exploits,Crazy Horse was named War Chief of the Oglala in 1868.

    Crazy Horse also defeated many generals in battle for example General Custer.While being taken to jail an army guard stabbed Crazy Horse with a bayonet and he later died of his wounds.He was also a big part of the sioux wars.
