    Mayan Society

    The Mayans created two calendars. The Ritual which in 260 days in a year and the Solar which is what we use today having 365 days in a year. The Mayans used characters for their writings, much like what is used in China today. The Mayans were also very religious and used religion as a reflection of the role agriculture played in society.

    Olmec civilization

    The Olmecs, otherwise known as the "rubber people", was one of the first major civilizations in Mesoamerica. They hab bult large creimonial centers, temples, pyramids, alters statues and so much more. They also had quite elaborate drainage systems due to flooding. Many of the military ideas of the Olmecs have shown to have influenced people through out mexico all the way to guatemala.

    Roman Empire

    Etruscans dominated most of the empire form eight to fifth-century B.C.E. At its height, the Roman Empire stretched from north-western Europe to the Near East and encompassed all the lands of the Mediterranean. The government eventually became a monarchy disgised as a repiblic areound 30 B.C.E.

    Persian Empire

    created when Cyrus the Great rebels against the Medes and establishes the Achaemenid Empire of Persia.
    At its hight spanned from Egypt to Turkey, and through Mesopotamia to the Indus River in the east.

    Athenian Society

    The Athineans had a more democtatic and male run society which was somewhat contrany to that of the Spartans. Also, unlike Sparta there was a large divide between the classes which lead to tension in the sixth centurty B.C.E.
  • Period: 430 BCE to 370 BCE

    Spartan Society

    It was a very militaristic society, Men often fought in was or trained for war most of there life. Contrary to many other societies of this time Spartans did not wear lavish clothing or jwlery. They also discouraged social distinction.
  • Period: 320 BCE to 185 BCE

    Mauryan Empire

    After the death of Alexzander the great, Chandragupta, united the majority of the Indian subcontinent, except for the Tamil-speaking south. After Chandragupta, Ashoka reigned c. 273–232 B.C.E.after his death the empire began its decline.
  • Period: 221 BCE to 207 BCE

    Qin Dynasty

    conquered the waring states and united china. Thus making Qin Shihungdi the first emperor. Was able to organize a powerful aremy due to iron weapons.
  • Period: 206 BCE to 220

    Han Dynasty

    Restored order to China after Qin dynasty. Han Wudi worked to increase the authority of the central government. Much like the Qin Dynasty the army was built up. this time China Invaded and colonized northern Vietnam and Korea
  • Period: 320 to 647

    Gupta Empire

    Made a centralized government. Invented many medical procedures we still use today. Such as the C- section, plastic surgery, and they even classified 1,000 diseases.
