    Mayan culture is a civilization of Mesoamerica, known for having fully developed written language. As well as for its art, architecture and mathematical and astronomical systems. Mayan culture was established in Mexican territory in the states of Yucatan, Campeche, Quintana Roo, part of Tabasco, Chiapas, northwestern Honduras and Belize. The great pyramids which characterize so many Mayan sites are replicas of the great mountain of the gods known as the Witzob.

    The Mixtecas are the most skilled craftsmen of ancient Mexico. They worked with extraordinary skill in goldsmithery, which preserves impressive pieces carved in gold, also distinguished in stone carving and rock crystal.

    The ancient Olmec civilization is now considered to be one of the earliest great civilizations in Mesoamerica. This civilization , they left their mark on the peoples of Mexico.
    The Olmec civilization is believed to have been centred around the southern Gulf Coast of Mexico area (today the states of Veracruz and Tabasco). Olmec civilization is often remembered, because of the gigantic stone heads that have been found.

    The Zapotecs

    The Zapotecs
    (500 BCE to 900 CE).
    The Zapotecs, known as the 'Cloud People', dwelt in the southern highlands of central Mesoamerica, specifically, in the Valley of Oaxaca.
    Their capital was first at Monte Albán and then at Mitla, spoken a variation of the Oto-Zapotecan language, and profited from trade and cultural links with the Olmec, Teotihuacan and Maya civilizations.

    Zapotec cities show a high level of sophistication in architecture, the arts, writing and engineering projects.

    Toltec Civilization

    Toltec Civilization
    800 BC to 1200 BC
    The advent of the Toltecs marked the rise of militarism in Mesoamerica. They also were noted as builders and craftsmen and have been credited with the creation of fine metalwork, monumental porticoes, the work of the stone, the distillation and the astronomy serpent columns, gigantic statues, carved human and animal standard-bearers.
    Their architecture and their art reflect influences of Teotihuacán and of the Olmecan culture.

The Aztec Empire covered most of northern Mesoamerica. the last of the great Mesoamerican civilizations was also noted for its art and architecture which ranks amongst the finest ever produced on the continent. The two principal gods worshipped were Huitzilopochtli (sun god) and Tlaloc (the rain god) Other important god were Quetzalcoatl (the feathered serpent god),
