Shiloh
The Union army is caught by surprise by the Cnfederates at Shiloh which was on the Tennessee River. Over 13,000 Union troops were killed. -
Robert E. Lee Takes Over
Robert E. Lee replaces Johnston as leader of Confederate army. He becomes a great general. -
Antietam
The battle of Antitam was the bloodiest battle of the civil war. The Union forces greatly outnumbered the confederates. Over 25,000 confederate troops died in this battle. -
Fredericksburg VA
The Union army suffers a huge defeat to the Confederates at Fredericksburg, Virginia. Over 12,000 Union soldiers are killed. -
Emancipation Proclaimation
Lincoln passes the Emancipation Proclaimation which abolishes slavery in all states. -
Chancellorsville
Lee defeats the Union forces under General Hooker at Chancellorsville, Virginia. Lee was greatly outnumbered. -
Jackson's Death
The Confederate army suffers a huge loss as one of their best generals, Stonewall Jackson, dies from battle wounds. -
Gettysburg
The Confederates are defeated by the Union at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The Union forces gain momentum. -

Abraham Linoln is shot in the head by John Wilkes Booth at the Ford's Theater. He dies the following morning. -
Booth Killed
John Wilkes Booth was surounded and killed in a barn in Virginia.
