  • Fort Sumter

    Fort Sumter
    There was an attack on Fort Sumter in South Carolina. Confederate moved into Charleston harbor and then raided the fort. The union had Major Robert Anderson, and the confederate had General P.G.T Beauregard. The confederate had won which meant for our retreat from the fort. One advantage for the union is that we were defending which meant south had a disadvantage trying to attack. The battle went from the 12 to the 14.
  • Bull Run

    Bull Run
    They attacked North Viginia to get to Richmond. Union had General Irvan McDowell and confederate had General P.G.T Beauregard. The confederate army won and the union retreated. The confederate didn't have coordination and the union army had a plan but it was too complicated.
  • Monitor VS Merrimack

    Monitor VS Merrimack
    It took place in Virginia. The union has General John L. Warden and the confederate have Franklin Buchanen. The battle showed its winner as inconclusive. Monitor ended up temporarily blinded. They were in battle then moved to shallower water for safety. The battle lasted from 8th-9th
  • Richmond

    Richmond
    Madison County, Kentucky is where this battle had taken place. For the generals the union had William Nelson and the south had Kirby Smith. The confederate won and they had captured 4,000 Yankees. Union had more troops and confederate had not very many. Union encountered them and the south went skirmishing. This battle went from 29- 30
  • Antietam

    Antietam
    This battle happened in Maryland in the Washington county. Both sides would kind of hide out and then attack the other pushing them back. The union had George B. McClellan as their general and the south had Robert E. Lee. The ending of the battle put the winner as inconclusive. On advantage was the union had almost twice as many troops but the south had way less casualties. The battle went from the 16 to the 18.
  • Fredericksburg

    Fredericksburg
    This battle was fought on the streets of Fredericksburg. The union had Ambrose E. Burnside and the confederate had Robert E. Lee. The confederate won so they took over the hilltop and weren't coming back now. On the plus side we had many troops but the confederate had less casualties. Some strategy was that the union split its troops in half and attacked two places at once. This battle went from the 11-15.
  • Vicksburg

    Vicksburg
    Happened in Vicksburg. Confederate attacked the union army near Jackson then went back to Vicksburg. Ulysses S. Grant was for the union and the confederate had John C. Pemberton. Union was defender and confederate was attacker. Went from May 8-July 4
  • Gettysburg

    This happened in Virginia. Robert E. Lee wanted to take away war and make North not want to fight anymore. Union had George G. Meade and the confederate had Robert E. Lee. We won against the confederate. The union had the battle on there land. The battle lasted from the first to the third.
  • Sherman's March To The Sea

    Sherman's March To The Sea
    This has happened in Atlanta. It used tactics that would be used in future wars. Union had general William confederate had T Cumseh Sherman. Confederate states surrendered. Sherman wouldn't stop without them surrendering. He used a physiological war of destruction.
