Kansas held a illegal voting session for pro-slavery or anti-slavery. Kansas decided to be both instead of people getting mad that they were not chosen to be that in Kansas.

Dred Scott tried to sue but he could not because he was not a citizen. He thought he was free because he was in free soil. This set the definition that slaves are property.

Lincoln and Douglas were in a debate for slavery. Douglas won the election and he was for popular sovereignty.

John Brown attacked Harper's Ferry, Virginia. He wanted to seize the guns that the U.S. Army had there. He was unsuccessful, later he got hanged of murder.
