the General was Sherman. He had 62,000 troops. The confederate was blocking Sherman's way so he couldn't get out. He went through Georgia. Sherman was distroying everything in his path. This march to the sea had a big impact on the civil was because he was just killing people so that he won. The March to the sea was fought near Griswoldville.
