  • Kansas- Nebraska Act -passed

    Popular sovereignty would choose if a slave would be allowed in Kansas or Nebraska.

  • Compromise of 1850

    Proposed by Henry D. Thoreau. Nebraska was now a free state.

  • Uncle Tom's Cabin

    Book about how brutal and portrayed slavery really was

  • John Brown's Raid

    John Brown wanted to target a federal arsenal. Brown also hoped to arm enslaved people. Brown wanted to raid Harpers Ferry.

  • South Carolina Seceded

    South Carolina used the Constitution to seceed. They said they went into the union willingly so they have the right to leave.

  • Battle of Fort Summter

    Messages were sent to Lincoln saying they had 6-weeks worth of food. When supplies got there shots were fired

    Union Army was to break through Confederate lines.

    This battle was led by General Robert E. Lee. This is one of the most well-known war of the most well-known 4.

  • Epancipation Proclimation

    It stipulated that if the Southern states did not cease their rebellion by January 1st, 1863, then Proclamation would go into effect.

    Led byWilliam T. Sherman. The troops used the slash and burn policy, this policy was very controlversial.

    Lincolin was watching a play with his wife and was killed by John Wilkes.

    Diplomate and former congressmen was sworn to office as the 15th president

  • Dred Scott Decion

    Dred was an enslaved African- American. He sued for his freedom. Scott was freed and Republicans were outraged.

  • Abraham Lincoln was elected President

    Lincoln was a republican. He wanted to leave slavery alone but, banned in some places.
