    1) Popular sovereignty: common people have the right to decide for the state about slavery.\
    2) Territory divided in 2 states: Kansas and Nebraska. In 1855 were estabilshed 2 capitals.

  • Dread Scott decision

    Dread Scott decision
    Dread Scott was a slave who went with his owner for a work trip in a free slaves state, so he pretended to be free. Trail dured years, at the end the Chief Justice Roger Taney said: "Slaves were private property and thus no decision needs to be made". Scott didn`t won because of the 5th Amendment which, protect private property, including slaves. This decision permitted and guaranteed slavery.

    Abraham Lincoln and Stephan Douglas made many debates during the 1858 for the senate seat; one of the pricipal point of those debates was the slavery issue. For the first time slavery was defined immoeral by Abraham Lincoln.

    Monitor (Union) and Merrimack (CSA), were the first two submarines to affor a battle. This battle didn't change anything in the war between North and South, but it changed forever the way to build sheeps.

    2) Take land from the richest ones and give them to the poor WHITES, he didn't belive in the equality between black people and white people.
