Invention of the cotton gin
The Cotton Gin was invented by Eli Whitney and his assistant, Phineas Miller, in April of 1793. The creation of the cotton gin was very much to blame for the growth of slavery in the United States. It made cotton easier to clean, so plantation owners could grow more cotton because they could clean it faster. Because of that they bought more slaves so they could harvest faster and plant faster. -
