Emancipation Proclamation
The Emancipation Proclamation was an order to abolish slavery in all parts of the Confederacy. It left out all of the boarder states. The Emancipation Proclamation failed in its attempt to abolish slavery, but it changed the character of the war. -

Robert E. Lee Surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant in Virginia after the Union soldiers cut off all supplies sent to the South. This ended the Civil War. -
Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
Lincoln was shot in Ford Theatre by John Wilkes Booth. He died on April 15, 1865 at 7:22 a.m. -
Ratification of the 13th Amendment
The 13th Amendment was the official end to slavery. It was ratified 8 months after the war.
