The Battle of Galveston
The Battle of Galveston was an event in which the Union was trying to block off Galveston from the Confederate forces, and take over and sweep into Texas. But the Confederate forces attacked in the early morning and eventually captured hundreds of soldiers and gained back the Texas port. -
Emancipation Proclamation
This was a document issued by President Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War in 1863 which freed slaves in Confederate States, which added over a million slaves to the now 4 million free slave population. -

This was important because whoever controlled Vicksburg controlled traffic in the Mississippi. -
Battle of Gettysburg
This is the battle where President Lincoln mande the iconic speech of how they have lost so many bravve soldiers on both sides. This was the turning point in the war for both the Confederacy and the Union. (From July 1-3, 1863) -
Red River Campaign
The Red River Campaign was when the Union had wanted to invade and attact northeaster Texas, in Louisiana, along the Red River. The Union (27,000 men) and the Confederate (9,000 men), intercepted which somehow resulted in the Union being forced to retreat. It ended on May 22, 1864. -
Battle of Palmito Ranch
This was an inintended battle shortly after Lee's surrender; it was the last battle of the American Civil War before the truce with Ford. It ended with the Confederate states victory, but the Union had already won the war. Plus the battle happened after the war officially ended, without the soldiers knowledge.
