In 1860 Abraham Lincoln ran for President. Lincoln went up against Douglas in the election. Lincoln won the election and became president of the United States. He was president for 1860 to 1865. -
Texas secedes from Union
In 1861 Texas seceded from the union. Texas was the seventh state to secede. About 76 percent of the Texan voted to secede. On March 2, 1881 Texas joined the confederate states of America. -
Houston kicked out of office
On March 24, 1861 Sam Houston was kicked out of office. Texas was admitted to the confederacy on March 1, 1861. Houston did not like that idea. So Houston refused to take oath of allegiance to the confederacy and then got kicked out of office. -
Battle of Fort Sumter
The battle of Fort Sumter was significant because it was the start of the American Civil War. The battle was won by the confederate states. The battle was lost by Major Robert Andersons when he surrendered. It affected the out outcome of the civil war because it caused everyone to get mad at each other and caused a 4 year long war. -
Battle of Glaveston
The battle of Galveston was on January 1st 1863 when confederate forces attacked the city of galveston in Texas. The confedrates won the war. And the Galvestons lost. This war affected the outcome of the civil war because the confederate states got control of the Port for the rest of the war. -

The battle of gettysburg was from january 1 to 3rd in 1863. The battle was won by the union forces. The confederate states lost. This war affected the outcome of the civil war because it started the turning point of the war. -

The Red river campaighn was from March 10 to May 22, 1864, 1864. The red river campaign was a series of wars fought along the red river in Louisiana during the civil war. The union went the the red river hoping to capture everything in it and then planning to go to texas. The union never reached texas. -
End of civil war
The Civil war ended on April 9, 1865. General Robert E Lee surrendered. General Grant and Robert E Lee had been sending notes and they agreed to meet each other at the house of wilmer mclean in te village of appomattox courthouse. The meeting lasted 2 and a half hours. This meeting ended the civil war. -
Battle of Palmito Ranch
The battle of Palmito ranch was on May 13, 1865. The palmito ranch war was won by the union states. The war was lost by the United states or the confederate states. This war was important to the outcome of the civil war because it was the final war. -
Juneteenth
Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19th. Juneteenth is a celebration that commemorates the ending of slavery in the united states. Today Juneteenth commemorates
African American freedom. On June 19th the union soldiers who were led by Major General Gordon Granger landed in Galveston Texas with news that the war ended and the enslaved were now free. -
Reconstruction ends
The reconstruction ended on January 10, 1876. Hayes became president. He removed all of the remaining troops from the south. That ended the reconstruction.
