Uncle Tom's Cabin
Uncle Tom’s Cabin, also titled Life Among the Lowly, was written by Harriet Beecher Stowe. Her novel, published in 1852, “helped lay the groundwork for the Civil War”, so stated Will Kaufman. The book itself was written and sold in America, and was the second bestselling book of her century, following behind the Bible. In the time Uncle Tom’s cabin was written, slavery was very much so an issue and it was by Stowe’s book that helped the abolitionist cause in her time. -
