    After intense debating over how Missouri was going to be admitted into the Union. Henry Clay (The great compromiser) solved the compromise by allowing Missouri to enter as a slave state and Maine to enter as a free state.

    Andrew Jackson passed a tariff that the South deemed unfair. People in the south called this the Tariff of Abominations. Andrew Jackson's vice presedint John C. Calhoun left office and went to his home state and led the campagin.

    Debates were made about wheather the newly acquired territories from Mexico should be slave or free.Henry Caly once again solved this by allowing California to be free and banning slavery in Washington D.C. But for the south any other territory acquired from Mexico had no limits on slavery.

    The Fugitive Slave Acts of 1850 said thta any escaped slave in the north should be reported to the police. And any free black person without slave papers would be viewed as an escaped slave. This skyrocket tension in the north and set in motion John Brown's Raid.

    When slave owners heard about Kansas applieing for statehood they flocked into Kansas to try to throw off the vote to be slave.     Dred Scott Decision
    Dred Scott was a free black who lived in Illinois and the free territory of Wisconsin. He moved to missouri and was titled a slave. he appealed to the Supreme court to gain back his freedom. But the Supreme court said that all blacks slave or not were never going to american citizens of the USA, also they declared that the Missouri compromise was unconstutional and slavery was permitted in all the country's territorys.

    John Brown was an abolitionist and wanted slaves to be inspired to fight for their freedom. So he attacked an arms storehouse in Virgina. His attack fail and him and 10 other men were executed.

    Candidates Abraham Lincolnand John C. Breckinridge ran for president, but ony Abraham Lincoln won the titile of 16th predident. Shortly affter hearing this seven southern states succeded from the Union.
