It's when David wilmot the representative of Pennsylvania proposed that congress ban slavery in all territory that might be gained from the Mexican-American war. -
Compromise of 1850
It was a series of laws saying that California would be admitted as a anti slavery state. They also banned slave trade in the capitol. For the south, people would be able to vote to see if the state was gonna be anti slavery or pro slavery. They could also get any of their runaway slaves from the north now. -
"Uncle Tom's Cabin" is first published
It's a book that taught people about the harsh conditions the slaves were in. The book was about a slave who was abused by his owner so much that he dies. -

Senator Stephen Douglas wanted to develop lands west. He wanted a railroad from Illinois to the pacific So he proposed that they form two new territories Kansas and Nebraska. It went through but the big debate now was if they were going to have slavery or not. -

It's when John brown retaliated against what the pro slavery people raided the town/attacked it. Then a couple days later john brown and some other antislavery people murdered 5 people at Pottawatomie creek. -
Dred Scott Decision
The decision was that blacks had no right to sue so Dred Scott couldn't because he wasn't a citizen.It also stated that no slaves could be free because they were property and property was protected by the U.S. constitution. -

It is about when Brown and a small group of people attacked the town Harpers ferry they were hoping to cease all the guns and he was going to arm the slaves that were there and they were going to revolt. He got control of the arms but before he could leave he was surrounded by Colonel Robert E. Lee. -
