    North West Ordinance
    Was a law that provided the base to govern the western territory, it also gave the people that live on the west side special rights like freedom of religion,property rights,right to trial by jury and “ neither slavery nor involuntary servitude in the said Territory.” This could cause tension between the North and the South because slaves would be willing to escape to those land. It would also give slaves rights, and the south would not want that at all.

    It was a well-organized way freedom for the slaves.This help a lot of slaves escape their hell that they have been living in the south.There people call “ conductors” that help slaves out.They made dangerous trips to the south to help slaves leave and go to freedom up north

    Missouri Compromise

    The Missouri Compromise was a mix of two solutions.It allowed slavery to go to Arkansas territory south of Missouri but in the Louisiana purchase north of the Missouri’s southern border there wouldn’t be slavery. This caused a lot of tension because the south wants slavery out in the west. The north wants no slaves at all.Also when Missouri wants to become a state will it be a pro-slavery state or a non-slave state either way it breaks the Missouri Compromise.

    American Immigrants made a rebellion against the Mexican government.The Rebellion won and they wanted to be part of the United States but Andrew Jackson did not allow it.This cause a lot of tension because many northern states opposed it because Texas was going to be a slave state.Also Mexico was still claiming Texas as their own.So Andrew Jackson recognized Texas as an independent nation to not cause a disagreement or war.

    A guy name James W. Marshall found gold in Coloma,California.Over 30,000 Americans want to the west coast to mine for gold. It caused tension between in the states because pro-slaves states were becoming a minority.So a lot of states were talking about dropping out of the Union over fear of limits on slavery. California was a free state.
