This act divided Kansas and Nebraska into territories. It also decided that slavery would be decided by popular sovreignty. -

John Brown and his four sons killed four pro-slavery men in the middle of the night. He said God told him to do this. -

Dredd Scott lived in a free state with his owner when his owner died in a slave state. Dred Scott was declared property in the supreme court. -

Douglass beleived slavery should be decided by popular sovreignty. Lincoln didn't want slavery in the new states and wanted the country to stop fighting. -

John Brown started a raid and set the slaves free. No slaves wanted to help him. He was later arrested and hanged. -

Lincoln defeated Douglass and the southerners were very angry. They thought that the north had too much power. -
