    The Compromise created Maine as a free state and Missouri as a slave state. The compromise also created the 36 30 line.

    Nat Turner's Rebellion
    Nat Turner the slave lead 70 other slaves in a revolt against plantations in Virginia. The group was stopped after two days, Turner and 55 others were subsequently lynched.

    Senators Henry Clay and Stephen Douglas brokered a deal admitting California to the Union as a free state and in return The Fugitive Slave act was strengthened and all ceded Mexican territories had no regulation on slavery.

    Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote the book Uncle Tom's Cabin which showed many northerners the realities of slavery. The book became the countries second most sold book and was seen as incendiary by many southerners.

    The Kansas-Nebraska Act overturned part of the Missouri compromise allowing settlers to determine the states slavery state. In result the territories were flooded with people from both sides pushing for there ideals.

    After being brought to a free state by his master Dred Scott attempted to sue for his slavery. The case was ruled in Sanfords favor claiming that Dred Scott was only property.
  • Browns raid on Harper's Ferry

    Browns raid on Harper's Ferry
    John brown with the help of five of his sons and a few other men invaded one of Virginia's arsenals on Harper's Ferry. After taking the arsenal Brown was then surrounded by Robert E. Lee and was was to surrender. This act started the South's militarization.

    After Abraham Lincoln was elected southern states began succeeding fearing that Lincoln would abolish slavery on a national level. The first state to do so was South Carolina on December 20th, 1860.
