    First Battle of Bull Run
    The first clash between Confederate and the Union armies occurred on the land of Virginia. As an assumption, the Union considered themselves notorious over the opposing army because of their strong economic advantage and commander skills. However, all were surprised when the right flank of the Unions vessel broke sending them back to Washington defeated. With this being the initial battle, and Confederate victory, the Union was forced to conduct better preparation and render any underestimates.
  • The Seven Days

    The Seven Days
    In the series of battles, in which a Confederate army under General Robert E. Lee drove back General George B. McClellan's Union forces and prevented the Northern attempt to capture the Confederate capital of Richmond, VA. As a result, the war gave a reputation to Robert E. Lee, who strengthened the Confederate army by taking command of the Northern Virginia army and defeating the Potomac Army.

    Battle of Antietam
    The first battle on Union soil. This battle was named the bloodiest, most horrific battle of the American history, losing over 20,000 men to death, wounds, and disappearances. In the beginning the Union army launched attacks against the Confederacy that damaged the left flank which crippled their ability to fight back. In result, Lincoln fired Commander McClellan due to his deficit preparation, also with the victory of the Union, Lincoln issued the Preliminary Emancipation proclamation.
  • Battle of Vicksburg

    Battle of Vicksburg
    Gen. Ulysses S. Grant and his army marched into Vicksburg on the Confederate army in the command of Gen. John Pemberton. Furthermore, on the carry out of the war, until July 4, the Confederate surrendered after the prolongation, and precipitated a split in the Confederacy. The Union gained an advantage over the Confederacy through the Mississippi River which controlled their imports (artillery) from Britain and France. This lowered the Confederate chances of winning the American Civil War

    Led by the uneducated, Robert E. Lee, the Confederacy felt confidently of their unexpected victories but were compelled to make a second attempt in invading the North due their failure in Maryland. This three day battle was a Union victory which resulted in 50,000 men being killed or injured or missing, and tops the Antietam as one of Americas bloodiest wars. For the Union, it recovered the dominance of the Union and turned in their favor, but also drove Lee to attempted resignation.
