Surrender at Appomattox Courthouse

The norths leader was Grant. The souths leader was Lee. Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House in Virginia. This put an end to the civil war.

Assassination of Lincoln

Apr 14, 1865

while attending a special performance "Our American Cousin," President Abraham Lincoln was shot. John Wilkes Booth shot Lincoln in the head. The next morning after he had been shot he died.

Ratification of the 13th Amendment

Dec 6, 1865

"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." This words were the biggest change in the civil war.
