Fort Sumter
April 30, 1861 at 4:30 am the guns started fireing for 34 hours the guns kept on firing for fort Sumter. Fort Sumter the first battle,was in Charlseton,South Carolina.Robert Anderson, the union comander and Beauregard on the confederate side. In this battle no one got hurt but it lead to the civil war which killed many. Anderson the union leader was forced to surrendor so the confederates won the first battle of the civil war. -

In this battle led by Lee in the south and McCellan in the union possistion was led to the Emancipation Proclamation.The Battle of Anietam was in maryland in a town called Sharpsburg where the union beat the confederates. This was a very bloody battle and Lee lost one third or his fighting force. September 17, 1862 was the date of the Battle of Antitam. -

The Emancipation proclamation did not help that much because the people he Lincoln intended to free lived in a area to distent from the union troops for his proclamation to count. Some people questioned why Lincoln only freed the slaves in the south? The answer was that freeing the slaves made the confederates weaker it was considered as a military action. -

Atlanta, where a strong battle lasted from July 16 through September 2 1864. This long battle was lead by Sherman on the union side and hood on the southern side.The Battle of Atlanta Georgia was pretty harsh with Sherman distroying railroads and alot of other stuff in the south. That is probably why the union won this battle. -
Ratification of the 13th Amendment
The thirteenth Amandment was passed on January 1865.Slavery has been abolished in the thirteenth amendment. Lincoln tryed in 1864 to try to get this law passed but it did not work. Lincoln begged the congress to try to abolish slavery one more time and it worked to bad Lincoln died before it actually happened. It was decided after 27 states wanted no slaves it became so slavery was now banned in america. -
Surrender at Appomattox Courthouse

Asssassination of Abraham Lincoln
President Lincoln was watching a play at Ford's Theater When John Wilkes booth sneeked up and shot Lincoln in the back of the head.John broke his leg but he still got away.Later that evening lincoln went across the street from the theater sadly our 16 president died on April 15, 1865. Lincoln never go to see the end of slavery.
