    April 12-14. First battle of the Civil war. The Confederate won the battle near Charleston, South Carolina.

    Fought near Manassas, Virginia. It was the first major battle of the Civil War. It wasn't really organized well but ended in the Confederate winning.
  • Battle of Fort Donelson

    Feb 11-16. Battled in Stewart County, Tennessee. This big win for Ulysses S. Grant raised made him somebody and a name people knew.
  • Battle of Antietam

    Battle of Antietam
    Sharpsburg, Maryland. It was the first major battle to take place on Union ground and was known as a Union victory.
  • Battle of Chancellorsville

    Battle of Chancellorsville
    Fought from April 30 to May 6 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, near Chancellorsville. It was a Confederate Army win, but it did end in the death of Stonewall Jackson.

    Battled near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania from July 1-3. It was the turning point of the war with a win for the Union and had the most deaths.
