Conflicts over the slaves and population
The number of representatives at the House of Representatives would be based on the population of each state. -
3/5 Compromise
The solution to the conflict, a slave would count as 3/5 as a person. -
Missouri Compromise
In order to prevent war, Missouri was added into the U.S.A as a slave state, while Maine was added too, so the free/slave states would be equal. -
The Compromise of 1850
Senator Clay set forth another plan to prevent war throughout the U.S.A. California was added to the U.S. as a free state, in exchange, the south was promised no federal laws would restirct slavery in Utah or New Mexico. -
Tariffs
While the North supported High Tariffs for their goods, the South wanted Low Tariffs for their priced goods. This difference led to even BIGGER differences. -

Blacks escaped
Through the U.G.R.R(Underground Railroad) and other helping ways, 20,000 slaves escaped slavery. -
Kansas-Nebraska Act
The fire increased to the U.S.A when Kansas and Nebraska wanted to join the U.S. Kansas soon became ''Bloody Kansas' and even after the fight in Kansas, it was added as a SLAVE state. Nebraska was a free state. -
John Brown
Poor John Brown. He tried to convince slaves to fight back(aka abolish slavery), and he even led a revolt trying to make slaves fight back! -
Abraham Lincoln Elected President
On November, Abraham Lincoln was elected president. Surprisingly, the other candidates outnumbered Lincoln's votes, but Lincoln won from the most votes from the Electoral College. -
Confederate States of America
On Febuary 1st, 1861, Many states,(South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Lousianna and Texas) removed themselves from the U.S.A making their own country, called the Confederate States of America. -
