Northwest Ordinance
The North West Orrdinance was an act of the Congress of the Confederation of the United States, passed July 13, 1787. The effect of the ordinance was the creation of the Northwest Territory as the first organized territory of the United States out of the the Great Lakes region and west of the Ohio River. Also East of the Mississippi River. -
3/5 Compromise
The Three-Fifths Compromise was a compromise between Southern and Northern states reached during the Philadelphia Convention of 1787. The 3/5 of the population of slaves would be counted for representation purposes regarding the distribution of taxes.
