President Lincoln appoints George McClellan as Commander of the Department of Potomac. McClellan replaced McDowell. -
U.S Grant
General Ulysses S. Grant captures Fort Henry, and then ten days later captures Fort Donelson. He got the nickname "Unconditional Surender". -
William Is An Angel
President Lincolns son Willium dies from a fever possibly caused by polluted water in the white house. -
