    Abraham Lincoln gave this speech and it became one of the most famous speeches in history. It inspired the soldiers and citizens against slavery to fight for human equality.

    Atlanta was a huge supply center, lots of railroads ran through there. This Union victory represented the North taking control of transportation.

    Lincoln represented a large amount of the people fighting for slaves' rights. If he would've stayed alive he probably would've given freed slaves full US citizenship rights. One of the many reasons he was assinated.
