  • Missouri Compromise

    California joins Union as free state, New Mexico and Utah organize and permit slavery, slave trading is banned in the District of Columbia, and Fugitive Slave Act from 1793 is modified so slave holders can retreive runnaway slaves in the north.
  • Hariet Beecher Stowe

    Hariet Beecher Stowe publishes "Uncle Tom's Cabin" in response to pro slavery movement.
  • Kansas/Nebraska Act

    This act overturns the Comprimise of 1850 making slavery legal in northern territory. Both sides immediatly send settlers to influence future ideals.
  • Kansas Elections

    As Kansas starts its own elections, thousands of 'border ruffians' cross over form Missouri to sway the vote, this starts a bloody corrupt period for Kansas.
  • Tariff of 1857

    Congress lowers taxes for the south and praises them almost, andgering the north. Also, slaves in free states are not subject to being obtained by southern slavers.
  • Brown attacks

    John Brown attacks a Ferry in Virginia, Later two fo his black group members were hung for the acts.
  • Lincoln Elected

    Abraham Lincoln elected as president.
  • South Carolina Suceeds

    South Carolina removes itself from the union.
  • Mississipi secedes

    Mississipi secedes from the Union.
  • Star of the West

    Unarmed ship arrivesn in Charlestown to supply north troops, and is fired upon and forced to retreat. first firing of the Civil War.
  • Florida and Alabama Secede

    Florida secedes from the Union, Alabama the following day.
  • Senate Refuses Attempts to Avoid War

    Senate Refuses Amendments changes the south wanted to make to avoid going to Civil War.
