    The sit in happened February 1 1960 when four black students Ezell Blair Jr,David Richmond,Franklin McCain and Joseph McNeil that all intend North Carolina A&T University. They walked in a Restaurant downtown NC called Woolworth’s and began to sit down and was refused service for being “nigger’s”. So the white people in the restaurant over heard the conversation and began to harass the four students pouring hot coffee on them hitting them with chairs.

    Freedom Riders was group of White and African American civil rights activists who were in buses taking trips all through in the South but on day on Mother's Day May 14 1961 a Greyhound bus carrying Freedom Riders arrived at the Alabama bus station but found find the building locked shut by Ku Klux Klan leader William Chapel and a angry mob of 50 men.Armed white men with pipes chains and bats smashed windows slashed tires and dented the sides of the Freedom Riders Bus.
