    NAACP stands for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The organization was founded by W. E. B. Du Bois, Ida B. Wells, and Mary white ovington. It was created for the sole purpose of ending racism and discrimination against people of color.
  • Brown vs. Board of Education

    Brown vs. Board of Education
    Brown Vs. Board of education was a movement organized by the Supreme Court of the United States. The movement was to help Children and teens of color attend public schools that were heavily populated by young adults of white race.
  • Rosa Parks.

    Rosa Parks.
    Rosa parks was an activist in the civil rights movement, she was seen as one of the faces during the civil rights movement for her courageous act of sitting at the front of a Montgomery bus knowing that she was not allowed to and was willing to face the consequences for her actions. She was born on February 4th, 1913 and passed away on October 24th 2005.

    The little rock nine were the first colored teens who were scheduled to enter little rock central high school which resulted in 1 failed attempt which then resulted to success. Despite being able to gain entry into the school the teens still faced heavy racism and discrimination through most of their high school career. Melba Beals, MinniJean Brown, Elizabeth Eckford, Ernest Green, Jefferson Thomas, Terrence Roberts, Carlotta Walls, Gloria Karlmark, and Thelma Mothershed Were of the nine.
  • Martin Luther King Jr.

    Martin Luther King Jr was born on January 15th, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was an American Baptist minister and an activist who became one of the most visible spokespeople and leader. He went on to lead the march on Washington where he delivered his famous speech "I had a dream." A few years later Dr. Luther King was assassinated by James Earl Ray in 1968.

    The 24th amendment was passed by the house in 1962 with a vote of 295 to 86. The 24th amendment was made in order for primarily people of color in order for them to vote for the president or the vice president of the United States without needing to pay tax.

    Malcolm X was an African-American Muslim minister who also was a human rights activist. he was a fearless advocate for the rights of colored people and a man who described white America harshly. Thomas Hagan was was one of the men who murdered Malcolm X in 1965.

    The Selma to Montgomery marches were 3 protest marches that took place on the 54-mile highway that started from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery, Alabama. The protest marches were peaceful with a strict no violence rule.

    The black panthers were a political organization that also goes by the alias, The Black Panther Party. they were founded in 1966 by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale. Together they Challenged police brutality against the colored community and formally dressed in all black attire. they disbanded the organization in 1982.

    The civil rights act of 1968, Also known as fair housing act was the act of allowing equal housing to people of all races, religions, and national origin. the act was signed into law during the riots caused by the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. President Lyndon B. Johnson was the one to sign off the law and pass it through congress.
