After the case of Brown vs board of education, African American parents wanted their kids to get the same education as white kids. The Little Rock 9 were the first to get into a segregated school (after a long struggle involving high authority). -
Freedom riders
These brave people rode the bus over segregated southern lines in order to challenge segregated bus lines. Though their efforts were met with violence, their message was made none the less. -
Birmingham Campaign
This campaign was masterminded by Martian Luther king and executed by afircan American youths. This march to stop segregation was seized when they reached Kelly Ingram Park, where they were assaluted and humiliated. -
March on Washington
The march was held in Washington D.C for African American jobs and freedom. 250,000 people showed up in order to show their support for the cause. -

The civil rights act of 1964 was the change African Americans were looking for. It is an act that outlaws the discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or nation origin. -

The voting rights act of 1965 dis-allowed the discrimination of race. -

As the civil rights movement was in full force, African Americans made it there next prerogative to end segregation in dining areas. Causing more Africans to sit in lunch counters in peaceful protest against a racist law.
