The Freedom Riders were brutally attacked by violent, well-armed and organized mobs of Klansmen and other terrorists. Freedom Rides were helped organize by the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), a U.S. civil rights group. Freedom Riders consisted of both african americans and whites. -
