The integration of blacks into white schools. This is important because the schools were changing, and letting everyone become equal with the same learning enviroment. -

A man named Emmet Til was beaten and killed for saying "Hey Baby" to a white women.
This is important because it shows how the southerners treated the blacck people that lived there, and also how they get away with this violence -
Montgomery Bus Boycott
When Rosa parks was arrested for not moving for a white man on a bus. This also is because blacks were not being treated right and fairly on busses.
This is important because it was the begging of a more serious movement for the black community in gettting them equal rights -
Sit-ins in Greensboro/Nashville
A group of black students were sitting at lunch counters for whites and would not move until they were served lunch.
This is important because they are protesting and showing how unfair the law is working, to have separate counters and places blacks can go -
March on Birmingham
This is when protestors were marching and protesting, and fire fighters were called and olice to basically spray the people for protesting
This is important because the protestors were not harming anyone and they were attacked. so this showed how the whites didn't care -
March on Washington
The big march where blacks and whites that were going for black rights and freedoms, marches from the Washington monument to the Lincoln monument
This is important because of what this march did, it created equal rights that were this time understood -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
it was an act that outlawed major forms of discrimination against racial, ethnic, national and religious minorities, and also women.
This was important because america was changing its ways and making everything equal and right for all races and genders -

Allows blacks to vote and prohibits them banning race,gender from voting. This is important because states still were not allowing people to vote because they were black -

This is important because after all the protests and changes things are still bad for the black community and supporters
