14th Amendment

Amendment 14This amendment gives citizenship to anyone that was born or naturalized in the United States which this was mainly for the slaves.

15th Amendment

Feb 3, 1870

Amendment 15 This granted African Americans the right to vote.

Jim Crow Laws

Jim Crow Laws These laws was made to basically discrimminate African Americans by not allowing them to have intermarrige or even have white nurses acompany or tend to a black person. These laws wanted to keep the blacks seperated from the whites.

Literacy Tests

Literacy Test This was a test given to African Americans so they couldn't vote because most of them didn't know it.

19th Amendment

Women Rights This allows all women the right to vote.

Korematsu vs. United States

Korematsu Case During this time, the Vietnam war was still going on and the U.S. had issuded a order to confine all American born Japanese people in camps during that time. Mr. Korematsu had refused to leave his home so he took it up with the courts.

Brown's Case This was the time when the congress had voted to desegregate the public education schools.

24th Amendment

Amendment 24This amendment put a end to the discrimminating "poll tax" that states would put just so African Americans couldn't vote.

Poll Tax

Poll Tax End This method was used in states to stop the blacks from voting becasue during the time they didn't have that much money to afford the tax. The poor whites was allowed to vote and the other whites didn't have to pay any poll tax. This became known as the 24th amendment which put a end to the tax.

Mr. Loving's Case A black woman, Mildred, and a white man, Mr. Loving, had became married in the District of Columbia but when they moved to Virginia, they was considered to be in violation of Virginia's state law becasue it was a interracial marrage. Mr. Loving took his case to the courts.
