    The story of a 14 year old African American boy being brutally murdered for flirting with a white girl. The woman's husband and brother made him carry a 75 pound cotton gin fan to the river then made him remove his clothes as they brutally started beating him, gouged his eye out then shot him and threw his body in the lake.
  • Montgomery Bus Boycotts

    Montgomery Bus Boycotts
    Montgomery Bus Boycotts was a civil rights protest in which African Americans refused to ride buses to Montgomery, Alabama to protest segregated seating on the bus. Four days before this protest Rosa Parks an African American woman was arrested for refusing to yield her bus seat to a white man. One of the leaders of this boycott was Martin Luther king Jr and became the leader of the American Civil Rights Movement.
  • Little Rock Nine

    Little Rock Nine
    Little rock nine were a group of nine black students who enrolled in all white school. They were blocked from getting into the school because of racial injustice but were later escorted to the doors to be let in, but had to deal with shielding themselves from the objects being thrown at them.
  • Freedom Riders

    Freedom Riders
    A group of both white and American African activists who had bus rides through American South to protest segregated bus terminals. They were faced with arrests and horrible violence from white protesters but got the international attention they wanted.
  • Equal Pay act

    Equal Pay act
    The Equal Pay Act required that men and women in the same workplace be given equal pay for equal work. The jobs need not be identical, but they must be substantially equal. If there is an inequality in wages between men and women, employers may not reduce the wages of either sex to equalize their pay.

    March on Washington
    The purpose of this march was to advocate for the civil and economic rights of African Americans.About a quarter-million people participated in this march. It was led by civil rights leaders to protest racial discrimination and to show support for major civil rights legislation that was pending in Congress.
  • Birmingham Church Bombing

    Birmingham Church Bombing
    This was terrorist bombing let off at the church while people were preparing for Sunday services from white supremacist. This attack killed four young African American girls and left everyone shocked.

    Civil rights act of 1964
    The Civil Rights Act of 1964, which ended segregation in public places and banned employment discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin, is considered one of the crowning legislative achievements of the civil rights movement.
  • March of Selma

    March of Selma
    The Selma Marches were a series of three marches that took place in 1965 between Selma and Montgomery, Alabama. These marches were organized to protest the blocking of Black Americans' right to vote by the systematic racist structure of the Jim Crow South. With the leadership of groups that led to the passing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Assassination

    Martin Luther King Jr. Assassination
    After being a leader and speaker about black rights he then gave a speech one day and one day after speaking those words, Dr. King was shot and killed by a sniper. As word of the assassination spread, riots broke out in cities all across the United States and National Guard troops were deployed in Memphis and Washington, D.C. On April 9, King was laid to rest in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.
