Jackie Robinson Breaks Color Barrier
In August of 1945 Branch Rickey, the Brooklyn Dodgers owner, met with Jackie Robinson. He was looking for a man that could handle the stress of being the first black player in the MLB . Rickey signed Robinson to the his farm club where he broke the color barrier on April 15, 1947. After Robinson broke the barrier, other colored athletes joined baseball and many other sports.
