    Linda Brown sued the Board because it was unconstitutional for schools to be segregated and still not be equal. This is significant because it started the ball rolling for the civil rights movement and got peoples attention about African American problems.

    African Americans were tired not only physical but socially of giving up the seat to whites, and the Montgomery Bus Boycott had just begun. This was significant because they utilized non-violent direct action protest to encourage African Americans in their own freedom.

    The US Supreme Court affirmed a lower court decision outlawing segregation on the busses. This is important because this shows how a non-violent movent can make a change.
  • Little Rock (Nine), Arkansas

    Little Rock (Nine), Arkansas
    Governor Orval Faubus didn't want to allow them to attend that high school because it was main whites. So Eisenhower had to send troops to escort them into the school. This significant because it shows how the president was enforcing the laws even if they don't agree and it how Brown v the Board of Education was being enforced.

    The starting of the sit-in was a result of nonviolent movements and working towards racial equality. This is significant because this will keep people motivated to do more non-violent actions to obtain equality.

    James Meredith was the first African American to graduate from the University of Mississippi, but before he could even enter chaos soon broke out as a response. This is significant because whites apposed Meredith coming to an all white school.

    It was proposed to protest against discrimination against African Americans. And it was significant because African Americans took their problems and injustices to a peaceful march.

    This act banned racial discrimination and segregation in public accommodations. And also granted the federal government new powers to fight school segregation. This is significant because it shows how far a non-violent movement may go and how long it lasts.

    This act invalidated the use if any test or device to deny the vote and authorize federal examiners to register voters in the states that had disenfranchised African Americans. This is signification because it shows how long and what important step it took to the African Americans take/do.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Assassination

    Martin Luther King Jr. Assassination
    Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968. His death will stop the rolling ball of civil right months. This is significant because of the Civil Rights were stopped and all the attention went to the Vietnam War.
