  • Brown v.s Board of Education

    The Brown vs Board of education was a unanimous vote for a law that allowed African American children to go to school with white children. It not only allowed them integrate schools, it also made segregated schools illegal. This relates to the civil rights movement because it is working in favor of the African American people.
  • Emmett Till Lynched

    Emmett Till was lynched after being falsely accused of flirting with a white woman. As punishment he was lynched and eventually died. This relates to the civil rights era because it shows how people of color were not trusted and how white people always held superiority.
  • Montgomery Buss Boycott

    The Montgomery Buss Boycott was when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white Passenger. This relates to the civil rights movement because it portrays how things got out of hand if African Americans didn't follow the very strict and depriving laws.   • Ruby Bridges attends an all white school

    Ruby Bridges was the first African American to de-segrigate an all white school. She was treated and there were protesters waiting outside the school for her, but despite this she continued on with her education. This relates to civil rights because it shows how even a little girl could cause such violent actions just because of her skin color.
  • 24th Constitutional Amendment Preposed

    This amendment prohibits the right for states to place a pole tax on federal elections. This amendment was preposed in 1962, but was not officially ratified until 1964, even then 5 states illegally kept charging pole taxes. This relates to the civil rights movement because it is fighting for the rights of minorities.
  • James Meredith enrolls in the University of Mississippi

    James Meredith was officially enrolled in the University of Mississippi. The governor resisted the integration, but the district court officially enrolled him into the school. This is related to the civil rights movement because he is defying the fact that schools were not integrated back then, he simply wanted an equal education.
  • I Have a Dream...

    The I Have a Dream speech was given by Martin Luther Kink Jr. He gave it while protesting during the March on Washington, this speech was a call for equal rights for all races and a call to end racism.This relates to the civil rights movement because it is a calling to stop all the things that caused the civil rights movement in the first place.
  • Birmingham Church Bombing

    In september of 1963 four members of the Klu Klux Klan bombed an African American baptist church in Birmingham, Alabama. Four girls were killed from the explosion caused by 16 sticks of dynamite. This is related to the civil rights movement because it resembles how violent people can be just over the simple matter of someones skin color.
  • Assassination of JFK

    John F Kennedy was assassinated while sitting in his limo along side his wife Jacquelyn. He was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald; JFK's death marks the fourth presidential assassination. This relates to the civil rights movement because nit shows how white people could be affected by the terrorist groups as well.
  • March from Selma to Montgomery

    The marches from Selma to Montgomery were a series of three protests. They were held because civil rights activists wanted African Americans to have the constitutional right to vote. This relates to the civil rights movement because its purpose was to fight for minorities rights.
