Montgomery Bus Boycott
In Montgomery, Alabama, They arrested Rosa Parks because she refused to get out of her seat which was on the whites part of the bus. The Bus Driver, Fred Blake, asked Rosa and two other colored citizens to vacate their seats. The others complied but Rosa did not. She was fined and forcibly tooken out of her seat. -
Civil Rights Act of 1957
President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the law of The Civil Rights Act of 1957. The Idea was first introduced by General Herbet Brownell. This was the first attempt against segergation and Civil Rights. -

Albany Movement
There was a protest that citizens of Georgia were protesting Segregation throughout ¨Faucets of local life. When they did this a protest came about and Dr. Martin Luther King was invited to join the Protest. But, it was unsuccessful but it was a learning experience to Dr. King and Civil rights coordinators. -
New York School Boycott
Thousands of students, parents and civil right enthusiast were gathered together and boycotting in resistance about the New York City Public Schools systems. They were still segregating the school and all these people were here to show their support towards the Civil rights movement. -
March on Washington
250,000 Americans joined the march at the Nations Capitol which was a very defining moment for the Civil Rights Movement. Of the 250,000 people, 450 people were members of congress. They all met up at the Lincoln Memorial to hear the speeches and presentations for the day. And just the next year will the Kings dream come true when the Civil Rights Movement will be signed by President Lyndon Johnson. -
Birmingham Bombing
This was one of the deadliest and most violent movement that dangered many of the congregation. The name of the church was Sixteenth Street Baptist Church. The bomb was set on the front stairs and when it blew up it killed 4 young girls and injuring several others. The bomber was part o the Klu Klux Klan and was charged with murder and possession of dynamite without a permit. The act of violence was supposed to weaken the Civil Rights Movement but it was the opposite, it only made them stronger. -
Martin Luther King Wins the Nobel Peace Prize
Matin Luther King won the Nobel Peace Prize for all the things that he did for all the peaceful protesting and what he did for the civil rights movement. When he won the Prize, he gave all the prize money, $54,600, to further the Civil Rights movement. -
Watts Riot
Watts Riot was a very Devastating event that took place because a colored american was suspected of drunk driving and they thought it was because the color of their skin. This event killed 34 people, injured 1.032, and the police arrested more than 4,000 Americans. -
Dr. Kings Assasination
While Martin Luther King was in his hotel room in the Loraine Motel in Memphis, Tennesee, he was shot by a snipers bullet. When word got around that Dr. King had been assasinated, many violent riots broke out in the African American neighborhoods. Dr. Kings funeral was huge and was televised live.
