    Thirteen African-American parents tried to enroll their children in white schools and all were denied. The parents filed a suit against the Topeka Board of Education. This case went to the supreme court and in 1954 was ruled for the plaintiffs. This case ended legal segregation in public schools.

    She refused to give up her seat in the colored section of the bus to a white person. She was arrested. This incident became a symbol of the Civil Rights Movement. Rosa Parks was an activist fighting against racial segregation.
