    Civil Rights act of 1875
    This act outlawed segregation in the public by letting blacks and whites allowed to all facilities such as bathroom stalls, hotels, inns, land, water, etc. This act wasn't enforced at all since the all-white Supreme Court declared the act unconstitutional. This was the foothold of the civil rights movements arguments.

    Desegregation of public schools. This event put constitutional morality of segregation up for debate and question in the United States politically even though many Americans were still against desegregation.

    Rosa Parks Refuses to Give Up Her Seat on a Segregated Bus
    Rosa Parks was sitting in the first row of black seats on a crowded montgumery city bus, when a white man came on and asked them to move back. Rosa parks was the only one of the four blacks to stay in her seat, Leaving the man with his own personal seat, but he would not sit in the same row as a black. Rosa Parks was arrested for violating segregation laws that day. this sparked the 1956 mongumery bus boycott.
  • Big News In Little Rock

    Big News In Little Rock
    The Government Uses Military force in an attempt to desegregate Little Rock High School. 9 African American students are escorted by military personel to school and to their classes and then back home at the end of the day. This is significant because it forces people to start to accept blacks into the community.

    Civil Rights Bill
    Kennedy sent Congress a bill that guarentees equal access to all public accommodations and gave the U.S. attorney the right to take action against schools who do not allow blacks and whites in the same school. This gave the civil rights movement a lot more legal traction, now that there was a constitutional right.

    John F. Kennedy had been assassinated a couple months later after the Marching to Washington. J.F.K Fought for civil rights during his run as president. This was inturepted when he was assassinated. The Civil rights movement got put on the backburner to mourn his death.

    This act didn't allow there to be a literacy test that many of the African Americans hadn't passed and this is because of the unfair education that they had been getting. The act increased 50% the amount of African American voters to vote for who they wish.

    The Black Panther was a party who fought police brutality in the ghetto. They didn't want young black males going into the Vietnam War because they thought it was unfair of how many had been drafted into the war. The Party Was a real force to recon with now.

    Martin Luther King was assassinated on his hotel balcony. The Leader in the civil rights movement has been killed.
