  • Brown vs Board of Education

    One of the 5 cases decided by the Supreme Court. The result was public schools had to end racial segregation.
  • Rosa Parks

    Rosa Parks declined to giver her seat up on bus, after a white man told her to get up. Her stance led to idea of the bus boycotts
  • Little Rock Nine

    Nine African American students were integrated into a mostly white school. They were treated so horribly that President Eisenhower sent federal troops to escort the 9 students to class everyday.
  • Civil Rights Act of 1957

    This act was passed to make voters feel safer when they tried to vote. This law stated that anyone who tried to prevent another American from voting would be federally prosecuted.
  • March on Washington

    The March on Washington was a march that consisted of abut 250,00 people who marched for freedom. This is where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial.
  • Civil Rights Act of 1964

    President Lyndon B Johnson signs this law that prevents the segregation for employment due to race, sex, religion, or any demographic.
  • Voting Rights Act of 1965

    President Lyndon B Johnson creates this act to prevent people from using literacy tests in order for certain people to vote.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. gets assassinated

    Martin Luther King Jr. gets shot by James Earl Ray on his balcony in Memphis, and is instantly killed. Everyone around the United States is shocked and angry.
  • Fair Housing Act

    This act, created by Lyndon B Johnson, provided equal housing opportunities despite there race, religion, sex, etc.
