Bartolome De Las Casas
In 1515, after Las Casas had traveled to the new world, he gave up his slaves and bean his arguements against encomienda. He met with dominican priest and they began to form a plan to end slavery of indians. He went to the monarchy of spain to end encomienda. They stopped the system fro about 2 years but with the decline in gold they put it back in place. he then subsituted african americans fro the indians in slavery, but regreted the situation later on. -

He gave many speeches, but his most famous was "I Have A Dream" which he presented in March 1963. he revieved the Noble peace Prize on October 14, 1964. In 1965 he organized th4e Selma to Montgomery march. he was assassinated and is given a holiday in his name. -
