    Brown v board of education
    Oliver Brown claimed that schools for black children were not equal to the white schools and the case went before the U.S. District Court in Kansas, which agreed that public school segregation had a “detrimental effect upon the colored children”

    Montgomery Bus boycott
    In 1955 a bus boycott started where African Americans protested by not riding the public buses because of seat segregation Rosa Parks was arrested four days before because she did not give up her seat to a white man

    Phillip Randolph planned a march on Washington for freedom for African Americans in 1963. Nearly 250,000 gathered at the event and 3,000 at the press conference Randolph started the day speaking and then Margin Luther King Jr agreed to speak his I have a dream speech for blacks and whites to be together

    Bloody Sunday
    Nearly 3,000 people gathered in the Creggan area of Derry on the morning of 30 January 1972 to take part in a civil rights march. There was a new law was introduced giving the authorities the power to imprison people without trial to restore order and the Stormont government had banned protests. Troops weee deployed to the March and began to open fire killing many people

    The Chicago freedom movement was led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., James Bevel, and Al Raby to challenge systematic racial segregation and discrimination in Chicago and its suburbs. The movement which included rallies, protest marches, boycotts, and other forms of non-violent direct action addressed a variety of issues facing black Chicago residents. It began in 1965 when Dr King was invited to lead demonstrations against segregation in education and housing as well as employment discrimination
