    The Montgomery bus boycott was a key event and spark of the civil rights movement but not the only reason it started. The civil rights movement was started because of the social injustice that black people received during that time and they were tired of it and wanted to fight. Other causes include the enduring effects of racism, not having the right to vote, discrimination, Plessy v. Ferguson, and unfair job opportunities.

    Around 600 civil rights marchers attempted to cross the bridge from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery but were stopped in their tracks by police and beaten brutally beans forced to turn around but after they fought for their right in court to march they were able to cross the bridge with no violence from the police.

Better access to resources for women, religious minorities, African-Americans and low-income families. Allowed African Americans to vote. Decreased racism back then compared to now and decreased blatant racism as well.
