    in 1960 Georgia's governor Ernest Vandiver had to decide to either desegregate schools under federal laws or to close them. Vandiver decided to ask Georgia's citizens and see which on ethey prefer. After voting, the data showed that 60% of Georgias citizens would rather shut down the schools than intergrate them. Soon after, Georgia's schools began to desegregate.
